A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The story, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” written by William Shakespeare, was difficult to understand because of vocabulary.  The story was written in 16 century, so vocabulary was different from now.  Also, this story made readers confused because of love complex after puck, which is a fairy in the forest, spread a magical juice.  In this story, love difficulty is one of the important themes.  Shakespeare makes complex main characters’ relationship.  First, Hermia and Lysander love each other, but her father wants her to get married with Demetrius.  Demetrius loves Hermia, and Helena loves Demetrius.  It’s already confusing relationship among them. However, after puck spreads magic juice, Lysander and Demetrius become loving Helena.  Two men love the same women.  This situation makes readers more confusing.  It’s because of magic juice; however, in real life, sometimes it happens without magical love potion.  Even though people know that person whom they love has already had girlfriend or boyfriend, they can’t resist their love.  Love is always difficult because love can’t be controlled.  No body knows whether this feeling is love or not, and they can’t love a person whom they try to give love.  Unexpectedly, love is coming to people so that love is powerful emotion.  No body knows what will happen after they notice their feeling is love.  Whether it will succeed or not, they will never know until they confess to him or her.  In real life, there is no magical love potion, so it’s not easy to love each other.  Although they love each other, it is hard to keep their love.  After I read this story, I felt anxious because I can’t expect what will happen between my boyfriend and I even the next day.  People might feel same thing.  I hope that everyone who loves each other will be able to keep their relationship.

Summary Response- “Beauty Is Not Just Smaller Than Life”
In the article, “Beauty Is Not Just Smaller Than Life”, Leonard Pitts Jr. describes how the media affects the standards of beauty.  The standards of beauty are getting skinnier than before, and most women want to lose weight although they are already skinny enough.  Pitts says that some might argue that stopping men from objectifying women is one of the solutions.  However, girls need more protection from harm in a more subtle way.  Therefore, gatekeepers who work for media have to be more careful to define beautiful girls in different sizes.
In sum, the author mentions why girls want to be skinnier than what they are now.  I totally agree with the author that losing weight is a huge problem for women: 90 percent.  Even though women are skinny enough, they always try to lose weight more.  Also, he states that the most important point is that we aren’t satisfied with our current appearance because models in media are unachievable.  Being like models is really hard and it is too skinny in general.  Moreover, to be skinny makes women sick.  Sometimes women died from too much diet.  Most women are skinny enough now, so they should feel satisfied what they are.  They don’t need to compare with others.  They should have confidence their current appearance.

Summary for MLK group

According to the article, “The Trumpet of Conscience”, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. describes about against the war.  He raises three reasons.  First, the war is “eviscerating the program of poverty” and the investment to it.  Second, he argues the war because of the ironic, which is Black and White kill and die together in the war.  However, they can’t live together in America.  At last, he doesn’t support the war because he believes violence can’t change anything meaningfully.  Therefore, He’s been trying to advocate non-violence in the world.

Love Is The Treasure of Our Life
The short story “A Haunted House”, the author Virginia Woolf writes, “From room to room they went, hand in hand, lifting here, opening there, making sure”.  This, “hand in hand”, shows readers the ghosts are in love.  The characters seem seek a treasure such as gold or money; however, in fact, the story is about treasure of love.
"`Here we left it,’" she said. And he added, "`Oh, but here tool’" "`It's upstairs,’" she murmured. "`And in the garden,’" he whispered.  These conversation sounds like the ghost couple wants to find something that they hided before they passed away.  However, we can know the unseen nature of what they really want to find from this sentence, “But they had found it in the drawing room. Not that one could ever see them”.  The end of the sentence of this story, “The light in the heart”, it shows the treasure they want to find is love.
The author Woolf uses lots of “here” and “it”.  From these words, readers must feel the ghost couple wants to find a treasure that can be seen or touched.  In Fact, it cannot be seen.  In the middle, Woolf describes, "’Here we slept,’ she says. And he adds, ‘Kisses without number.’ ‘Waking in the morning’— ‘Silver between the trees’— ‘Upstairs’— 'In the garden—‘ ‘When summer came—‘ 'In winter snowtime—‘ The doors go shutting far in the distance, gently knocking like the pulse of a heart.”  From this conversation, Woolf tells readers the ghost couple loves deeply and love is the treasure.
In real life, love is the deepest theme for us.  There’s no one doesn’t give love someone else.  We want to give and receive love.  We always try to find deep true love.  If we can find deep love like the ghost couple, our lives will become bright and this love will be forever.

Summary Response – “Real Love: What Is Real Love”
Dr. Margaret Paul, in the article, “ Real Love: What Is Real Love”, describes how people can feel real love.  According to Dr. Margaret Paul, people who love themselves and others feel real love.  If people are eager to get  love from another, it will not lead to real love.  People should give love to others more than get love from others.  People tend to want to get love from others.  However, People who focus on being loved cannot give love to others.   People who keep focusing on being loving themselves and others can have real love.
In sum, the author describes that being loving is the important to feel real love.  I generally agree with the author that being loving is the best way to get real love.  However, it’s hard for people to get out of feeling that they want to be loved.  If people are easy to love themselves and others, there’s no trying to get real love.  People have to try hard to get real love.  I’m concerned that people want to get real love because they can’t get it, even trying.

Summary – Response “Reading in Foreign Language: Reading Problem or Language problem”

The article, “Reading in Foreign Language: Reading Problem or Language problem”, discussed a major problem about reading in a foreign language. The author mentions the reading problem at the beginning. According to the article, students can’t do well at reading in a foreign language even when they know the foreign language is important for their educational life. Moreover, the author states that there are some experts who believe that reading skill is the main reason for reading problems in foreign language. Jolly (1978), for example, claims that success in reading in foreign language is crucially dependant upon one’s first language ability rather that upon the student’s level of English. Nevertheless, the author mentions that some experts have a different idea of this problem. For instance, Yorio (1971) takes a contrary view; he claims that the reading problem of foreign language learners is largely due to imperfect knowledge of the language. After discussing this supporting research, the author goes on to compare these two probable reasons, and the author indicates that the main problem is inadequate knowledge of target language. The article concludes that the primary reason for reading problem in foreign language is still under debate, and experts keep trying to figure out the best answer to this question.
In sum, the article describes two different reasons about reading problem for foreign language learners. I agree that the reason may be the reading skill. People who have the worst reading ability can’t understand the correct meaning of articles, even if the articles were written in their native language. Also, I agree with another reason, which claims  imperfect knowledge. Some people can totally understand any article in their own language; however, it doesn’t mean that they can do well at reading in a foreign language. Furthermore, the reason for reading problems in foreign language is not only reading skill also inadequate knowledge in target language. Consequently, foreign language learners should improve their reading skill, and they should adequately understand target language.

Summary – Response on “Are we headed for a smartphone zombie apocalypse?“

Nicole , a reporter of CNN addresses the issue that people should quit spending the whole day on smartphones. This article begins to describe an advantage of smartphones, and then quickly notes the disadvantages. Next, the article states that smartphones make human lives more convenient, but people look like zombies as they focus on their phone all day even if they walk on the street. After that, the author goes on to say the bills’ problem, which costs lots of money by using smartphones and gives an example. The example shows that the father who cancels the Internet for the smartphone of his family throws the financial pressures away. Furthermore, the article notes another problem is that people stop communicating with people by face to face, while they use smartphone to connect. This not a great way for maintain people’s society. Finally, the author acknowledges that people should keep smartphone away except for emergency.
In conclusion, using smartphone not only beneficial but also harmful. I agree that if we keep using smartphone, it is not a good thing to do every day. Also, people should start to quit this addiction and they need to communicate by face to face. Nevertheless, the author fails addresses how people can change their habits and what benefits would people get if they had fixed their behavior. However, I disagree that people should keep their smartphone away because smartphones help people not only in work but also in life. Consequently, people could keep using smartphone, but they shouldn’t depend on it too much.

Summary Response- “Apple New I Pad vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1”
Ross Catanzariti, the article “Apple New I Pad vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1” compares between Apple’s new iPad and Samsung Galaxy’s Note 10.1. The author indicates 5 differences between them such as design, display,  camera, software, and internals and other features. The author states that Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has higher designed camera quality, and software than the new iPad, the new i Pad has better display quality, yet iPad is easier to use because iPad is simple and effective. In addition, iPad has more apps than Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

The author describes several differences between iPad and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The author doesn’t exactly mention which is the best tablet because the author thinks that it depends on people. I agree with the author that even if Samsung Garaxy note 10.1 seems better than the iPad, it depends on people which tablets are better because both of them has good quality and usage.

Summary Response Essay "Long Distance Love-Can It Work"

Susan Quilliam, in the article "Long Distance Love-Can It Work" describes how couples can stay together even if love is long distance. According to Quilliam, there are 5 ways to maintain long distance love. Quilliam mentions that if the relationship is worth it both people, they need to communicate more than other couples. Also, they should say "I love you" often, make efforts to be reliable, try having phone sex together and enjoy their own time. If they maintain these ways, they will keep their long distance relationship successfully.

The author describes how important it is to communicate more often if couples have a  long distance relationship. I agree that calling and texting each other has a great effect on long distance love. Communication makes couples feel close to each other, yet sometimes communication makes them feel more distant too, I guess. This is because if couples communicate often, they want to meet each other more, but they can't. In conclusion, the author acknowledge that enjoying their own time is the most important way to keep long distance love. The author has a good point but I'm concerned that communication is the most important way to keep long distance love even if communication makes them feel more distant.
